As part of Iraq's government-backed gas development programme, the Ministry of Oil has reported significant progress in reducing gas flaring and increasing gas utilisation. To expand storage capacity, the Ministry completed 8 of 16 spherical LPG tanks, each with a 3,000-cubic-metre capacity, adding 24,000 cubic metres overall.
The talks focused on potential cooperation and investment opportunities, including the development of oil fields and the capture of associatedgas. Prime Minister Al-Sudani reiterated Iraq's goal to fully utilise all associatedgas produced from its oil fields by 2028.
The agreement, signed on Tuesday between North Oil Company (NOC) and the US-based company aims to increase the field's output to 60,000 barrels per day, up from the current 20,000-25,000 bpd, and to capture and utilise 45-50 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of associatedgas for power generation.
First, the acquisition is the latest in what by now is a long series of multibillion-dollar deals by midstream giants to expand their Permian-to-Gulf, “wellhead-to-water” networks that gather, process, transport and export crude oil, natural gas and/or NGLs. In today’s RBN blog, we discuss the deal and what it brings to MPLX.
MMBtu, and storage levels that remain elevated into the refill season, moderating further upside in gas spot prices. But gas is a different story: at Waha, negative basis persists, squeezing cash flow and discouraging associatedgas production. Meanwhile, Henry Hub futures for August 2025 settled near $3.08/MMBtu,
bcm of the additional gas flaring. Iran’s 12% increase in flaring is primarily attributable to an equivalent rise in oil production, along with a continued lack of investment in associatedgas recovery and utilisation. However reductions in gas flaring were observed in Algeria and Libya , mainly due to lower oil production.
The Prime Minister praised the engineers and technical teams who contributed to the successful completion of this and other gas-related projects, which align with the government's strategy to reduce gas flaring, enhance oil sector development, diversify revenues, and protect the environment. Al Faihaa field is also known as Block 9.
Where the Pipe Runs: Counties & Context This new loop stretches across Loving, Pecos, Reeves, Ward, and Winkler Counties —the beating heart of West Texas’s oil and gas production corridor. These areas are cornerstones of the Delaware Basin, where associatedgas volumes continue to surge alongside crude output. gas markets.
In May, the company reported that Megrez-1 produced over 2,000 barrels per day of liquids—but no meaningful oil or gas. In addition to the primary Ahpun Topset target, Dubhe-1 will test three additional zones and may undergo a lateral completion and long-term flow test to confirm oil deliverability and gas quality.

As Montney E&Ps pivot towards condensate-directed drilling, they will likely produce large quantities of associatedgas. This could lead to an oversupply of cheap gas, putting downward pressure on AECO hub prices. Figure 2: Canadian bitumen, condensate and associatedgas growth projections through 2030.
These efforts reflect a broader trend across the continent, where NOCs are leaning on foreign partnerships to advance oil and gas production. The partners completed the offshore platform for Angolas first non-associatedgas project in February 2025, with production on track for early-2026.
Due to insufficient growth within the highest-yielding condensate regions of the Montney gas play in B.C. and Alberta, a supply gap will become apparent over the next couple of years. EIRs analysis pulls from a variety of products including Enverus Forecast Analytics and Enverus Foundations.
Crude-oil-focused drilling and completion in the Permian Basin is generating fast-increasing volumes of associatedgas and creating opportunities for midstream companies that provide wellhead-to-water services for natural gas and NGLs. The companies also are working together on a new LPG export terminal and more.)
Each of the new contracts has a three-year term under which Wood will support TotalEnergies to advance the AssociatedGas Upstream Project (AGUP) , a key part of the GGIP project.
