SouthH2Corridor – a dedicated hydrogen pipeline connecting Algeria, Tunisia, Italy, Austria, and Germany.

South H2    Corridor – a 300 km dedicated hydrogen pipeline connecting Algeria, Tunisia, Italy, Austria, and Germany.A project promising to be an innovative and reliable way to connect two continents and supply lower-cost renewable hydrogen.

Representatives from Algeria, Tunesia, Italy, Austria and Germany signed a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDoI) to strengthen the European-North African collaboration on the Southern Hydrogen Corridor project.

The initiative will establish a 3,300 km direct pipeline connection for gaseous hydrogen between North Africa, Italy, Austria and Germany. It is part of the „European Hydrogen Backbone“, with 60-70% being repurposed natural gas pipelines.

Algeria and Tunisia have great potential for green  hydrogen and its derivatives like ammonia.

We need necessary basic conditions for German offtakers like thyssenkrupp. Cost-competitive greenhydrogen, availability and reliability of supply are essential for ProcessIndustries.
At the same time Thyssenkrupp Nucera has electrolyzers for the hydrogen production and Uhde has successfully built highly reliable large ammonia plants in Algeria.
