The latest UN Emissions Gap Report states that the current global greenhouse gas nationally determined contributions (NDCs) established for 2030 will produce future mean temperature rises of between 2.6 and 2.8 Celsius (4.7 to 5 Fahrenheit) by mid-century and 3.1 Celsius (5.6 Fahrenheit) by 2100. So much for the aspirational lower 1.5 and upper 2 Celsius goals first agreed to in Paris in 2015.
